Iran beats India 48-17 in 2018 Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship

The Iran men’s national junior handball team has chalked up an easy win at the 16th edition of the Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship, routing the Indian squad in its opening match at the preliminary round of the tournament.

On Monday, the Iranian sportsmen proved their dominance throughout the Group D match played at the al-Saada Indoor Hall in the southern Omani port city of Salalah, and trounced the Indian outfit 48-17.

The Iranian handball squad is scheduled to take on Yemen and Oman respectively on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Iran men’s national junior handball team is drawn with India, Oman and Yemen in Group D of the sports event.

Group A consists of China, Japan, Lebanon and South Korea. Iraq is pitted against Qatar and Syria in Group B.

Bahrain, Chinese Taipei and Saudi Arabia form Group C.

The 2018 Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship kicked off on July 16, and will close on July 26, 2018.

It acts as the qualification tournament for the 2019 Men's Junior World Handball Championship.

The top three teams from the championship will directly qualify for the Junior World Championship to be held in Spain.
