Around 15,000 fans were thrown into delirium in Zagreb's main square on Saturday after Croatia beat Russia in their World Cup quarterfinal.

Croatia had ended Russia's World Cup dream in a dramatic fashion, after the two sides were level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, and 2-2 after extra time, to finally prevail 4-2 on penalties in Sochi.

By going through, Croatia now equaled the biggest success in Croatia's football history, exactly 20 years after they had appeared in a semifinal against hosts France in Croatia's tournament debut in 1998.

Croatia will now face England on July 11 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, with France and Belgium playing the other semifinal the day before.
