Iranian wrestlers bag 12 medals at Tbilisi Grand Prix of V. Balavadze and G. Kartozia

Iranian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers have featured fine grappling skills at the Tbilisi Grand Prix of V. Balavadze and G. Kartozia in Georgia, and earned twelve medals, two of which are gold ones, during the international sports event.

Iranian freestyler Mehran Nasiri pocketed a silver medal after he could not prevail over Bajrang Bajrang from India in the final bout of the 65-kilogram weight category.

In the 92-kilogram class, Mohammad Javad lost to his Russian opponent Anzor Urishev and claimed the second spot.

Mehran Rezazadeh, Younes Emami, Omid Hassantabar, Alireza Karimi and Yadollah Mohebbi earned five bronzes in the 57-kilogram, 65-kilogram, 79-kilogram, 92-kilogram and 125-kilogram weight sections respectively.

Additionally, Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Moslem Naderikhadem triumphed over Vasilii Topoev, a representative from Russia, in the title challenge of the 55-kilogram weight class, and picked up the gold medal.

Mehrdad Mardani could pocket Iran’s second gold medal in the 60-kilogram class.

Mohammad Ali Geraei clinched the silver medal in the 77-kilogram weight division as well.

Moreover, Shahab Morteza Ghourehjili and Mahdi Valiollah Nouri settled for two bronzes in the 130-kilogram category.

The Tbilisi Grand Prix of V. Balavadze and G. Kartozia started on July 3, and finished on July 5, 2018.

It attracted dozens of freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers from various countries, namely Armenia, Georgia, Hungary, India, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
