Young Iranian sportsmen and women have exhibited admirable athletic skills at the 2018 Asian Rowing Junior Championships in South Korea, and been awarded four medals, including three gold ones, in the continental event.
Iranian rower Mohsen Shadi took part in the finals of men’s heavyweight single sculls competitions in the central South Korean city of Chungju, and set the time of 7:08.904 minutes to be crowned as the champion and receive the gold medal.
Rowers from Uzbekistan and Hong Kong finished in the second and third spots respectively.
In the men’s singles category, Reza Ghahremani stood on the top podium with 7:16.314 minutes, and bettered contestants from Hong Kong and China, who snatched the silver and bronze medals respectively.
The Iranian pair of Milad Allahverdian and Shirzad Ghaderi vied against opponents from China, Hong Kong, India, Japan and Uzbekistan in the men’s doubles section, and snatched the gold medal, having recorded the time of 6:44.549 minutes.
Contestants from Japan and Hong Kong landed in the second and third places respectively.
Additionally, the Iranian women’s team, comprised of Asra Javanmardi, Kimiya Zarei, Forough Aghabalazadeh and Haniyeh Bidad, finished as the vice champion in the quads event.
The 2018 Asian Rowing Junior Championships kicked off on June 26, and will finish on June 30, 2018.
