US failure in Afghanistan

It’s been described as a massive US failure in Afghanistan. A report by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan’s Reconstruction says over $5bn spent on programs to stabilize Afghanistan has been wasted. From the amount spent, nearly $2.5bn was administered by USAID. The rest was spent on  projects such as wells, schools, clinics and roads. The report says much of the money has been siphoned off by corrupt officials and some of that has been spent on project that did more harm than good.

Yemen’s  humanitarian crisis

Not a single day passes without a report of casualties in a new Saudi-led attack on Yemen. And signs of the calamity that has resulted from the multiple-year war in the country are visible everywhere. The United Nations has once again warned that the situation is deteriorating in the country which is already suffering from the worst humanitarian crisis in modern history. The UN says it is Saudi Arabia that should reduce the sufferings of the Yemenis.
