Israel’s rocket sirens switched on in northern Golan Heights: Israeli military

The Israeli military says rocket warning were sounded on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, near the frontier with Syria, a week after the occupying regime hit dozens of targets in the Arab country with a volley of airstrikes.

Multiple incoming rocket sirens went off across the northern parts of the occupied territory on Thursday afternoon, sending Israeli settlers scrambling to bomb shelters.

The Israeli military said no signs of racket falling were detected in the region, and that it was investigating what triggered an Iron Dome missile battery there. It also denied widespread reports that the system had intercepted a drone.

“Regarding the reports of sirens in the Golan region, it appears to have been a false alarm,” the Israeli military further said in a statement, adding that the military’s “Iron Dome aerial defense system was activated. The circumstances are being looked into.”

The sirens were reported in settlements across the occupied Golan Heights, including Katzrin, the region’s largest settlement.

The Israeli regime waged a full-scale war against Arab territories in 1967, occupying the West Bank, Lebanon’s Shebaa Farms, and the mountainous Syrian region of Golan Heights.

PressTV-Syrian army says destroyed most of Israeli rockets

The Syrian army command says it has managed to destroy the biggest part of a "successive wave" of Israeli rockets fired at military bases in the Arab country.

Back on May 10, Israel conducted what it called its most intensive airstrikes on Syria in decades. According to Russia's Defense Ministry, Israel had used 28 warplanes in its Syria strikes and fired 70 missiles. Both Damascus and Moscow said that the Syrian army managed to shoot down over half of the missiles.

The Tel Aviv regime, at the time, claimed that its assault was a response to a barrage of 20 rockets that were fired from Syria at Israeli military outposts in the occupied Golan Heights. It also blamed the purported rocket fire on Iran.

An official source told Syria's official news agency SANA that the aggressive approach adopted by the Zionist entity had been a reaction to the defeat of anti-Damascus terrorist groups.

The Palestinian Hamas resistance movement also condemned the Israeli aggression against Syria as a proof of the regime's terrorist activities.

Over the past few years, Israel has frequently attacked military targets in Syria in what is considered an attempt to prop up terrorist groups that have been suffering heavy defeats against Syrian government forces.

Israel has been providing weapons to anti-Damascus militants as well as medical treatment to the Takfiri elements wounded in Syria.

On the contrary, Iran has been offering advisory military assistance to the Syrian government fighting all-out foreign-sponsored militancy.
