Junior Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers take crown in ISF Gymnasiade

Junior Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers have produced splendid performances at the International School Sport Federation (ISF) Gymnasiade in Morocco, and picked up the trophy at the prestigious international sports event.

On Sunday, Khuzestan students’ Greco-Roman wrestling squad, which was representing the Islamic Republic during the tournament, won the team title in the western Moroccan city of Marrakesh, having secured five gold and three silver medals.

Ali Hajivand Nouraei, Amir Abdi, Milad Rezanezhad Hosseinvand, Alireza Arghash and Alireza Moradi stood first in the 45-kilogram, 51-kilogram, 60-kilogram, 71-kilogram and 80-kilogram weight categories respectively.

Ali Oskou, Hassan Ghorbani and Saeid Hossein Poursaleh Babari clinched silver in the 55-kilogram, 92-kilogram and 110-kilogram sections as well.

Athletes from Ukraine ranked second. They were followed by Hungarians in the third place.

The ISF Gymnasiade kicked off on May 5 and will close on May 7, 2018.
