Clashes broke out between police and protesters during May Day marches in Montreal on Tuesday, with at least five people arrested as a result.
The scuffles happened briefly at the corner of Dorchester Square Street and Metcalfe Street when around 200 anti-capitalist protesters set off fireworks and the police fired a volley of tear gas at them, local media reports.
There were three different events organized in the city as part of the annual anti-capitalist demonstrations for workers' rights.
