The Iran men’s national 3x3 basketball team has pulled off three consecutive wins at the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 Asia Cup 2018, overcoming squads from Hong Kong, Samoa and Uzbekistan.
On Sunday, the Iranian sportsmen defeated opponents from Hong Kong 21-14 in their first fixture of the day at the Nanshan Cultural & Sports Center in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen.
Hours later, the Iranian basketball players repeated the same result in a showdown against Samoan rivals.
The Iran men’s national 3x3 basketball team edged past the Uzbek outfit 20-19 in its third match of the day.
The Iranian basketball players are scheduled to play against South Korea and China on Monday.
The FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2018 kicked off on April 27 and will run through May 1.
The 3x3 (pronounced three on three) basketball is a form of the game played three a side on one hoop.
The basketball discipline is currently being promoted and structured by FIBA, and the highest tournament for national 3x3 teams is the FIBA 3x3 World Championships.
