These are the headlines we are tracking for you in this episode of On the News Line:
Libya without Khalifa Haftar
Libya is facing a new crisis. The Commander of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar has gone missing. Haftar is a key political figure in his country and has introduced himself as the man who can once again unite Libyans after the fall of Colonel Moammar Gaddhafi. While his spokesman has said that Haftar will return to Libya soon, rumors about his death are now surfacing. The news, if true, would throw Libya's already chaotic situation into further turmoil.
Arab League summit
The Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia was full of finger pointing. And as usual, Iran was the prime target. Saudi King Salman bin Abdel Aziz dedicated a major portion of his address to Iran, condemning the Islamic Republic for "interfering in the internal affairs of Arab states." But more interesting that than was King Salman’s condemnation of the U.S. recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s "capital." This is while reports have emerged of his crown prince’s blessings for the move.
