A Palestinian professor says US Congress' endorsement of a decision to reduce annual aid to the Palestinian Authority shows Washington has completely aligned itself with the "apartheid" regime of Israel.
Leaders of House of Representatives and Senate reached an agreement on Wednesday on a spending bill, which includes reducing the annual $300 million in US aid to the Palestinian Authority unless it stops payments to families of those who have been killed or jailed by Israel.
“It is shameful what is happening in the United States. It doesn’t bring any credit on it and this administration has completely aligned itself with a rogue regime, with an apartheid regime, with Israel,” Kamel Hawwash told Press TV on Thursday.
The US has also decided to cut its contribution to UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, which supports Palestinian refugees, he said.
"So, it seems that the new legislation is not simply about money that goes to Palestinians. It is actually an attack by America on the Palestinian people,” Hawwash said.
