Tensions rising between US, Turkey over Syrian Kurds

On Sunday, the US-led coalition said it was working with the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to set up the new border force. This triggered an angry reaction from Ankara with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasizing that he would “drown” what he described as Washington’s plan to create “a terrorist force” on Turkey’s border.  Warning the US and other nations over the stated plan, Erdogan said, “This is what we have to say to all our allies: don't get in between us and terrorist organizations, or we will not be responsible for the unwanted consequences.”

Saudi threat to seize Hariri assets part of familiar policy

Reports say Saudi Arabia is moving to seize assets owned by the Lebanese Prime Minister Sa’ad Hariri in the kingdom. This appears to be a revenge that Riyadh wants to take on Hariri for failing to take a tough line on Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah. The Saudis have in fact taken similar measures against their Royals in what may appear to have been part of a clampdown on corruption but is instead a plan to seize the assets of the wealthy to boost state coffers.
