A political analyst says US President Donald Trump’s belligerent rhetoric against the 2015 Iran deal will lead nowhere as such unilateral and “idiotic” statements targeting the landmark multinational pact has no support on the international stage.

In an interview with Press TV, Scott Rickard highlighted Europe’s increasing participation in the Iranian market in the post-deal era, saying Trump’s “idle threat” against the nuclear agreement cannot prevent the rest of the world from doing business with the Islamic Republic.

On Friday, US President Donald Trump agreed not to re-impose nuclear sanctions on Iran, but said it would be the last time he issues such a waiver. He gave a four-month deadline to US Congress and America’s main European allies to address what he called the “disastrous flaws” of the deal, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Scott further described Trump’s statement as nothing but mere “hot air,” saying he is just a “clown” in the president’s office.

Trump’s statement came in defiance of international warnings for the US to respect its side of the deal.

Other signatories to the JCPOA have praised Iran's full compliance, as repeatedly confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency, warning the US against attempts to undermine the accord, which is widely viewed as a victory for international diplomacy and teamwork.
