The Iranian Bimeh Razi Isfahan Wrestling Club has put on impressive shows of physical strength during the fourth edition of Greco-Roman World Wrestling Clubs Cup, and clinched the title at the conclusion of the international tournament.
On Friday evening, the Iranian squad overpowered Sina Sanat Izeh 8-2 in an all-Iranian final showdown at the 25th Aban Indoor Hall in the central Iranian city of Isfahan.
Reza Khedri and Meysam Delkhani gave Sina Sanat Izeh an early 2-0 lead, after they overcame Bimeh Razi Isfahan wrestlers Moslem Naderi and Mehrdad Mardani in the 55-kilogram and 60-kilogram weight categories respectively.
However, Saman Abdevali and Russian wrestler Artem Surkov then outmuscled their opponents Behnam Moradi and Mohammad Reza Garaei in the 63-kilogram and 67-kilogram sections, and leveled the bouts at 2-2.
After that, Mohammad Ali Garaei, Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Roman Andreyevich Vlasov, Saeed Abdevali, Mehdi Fallah and Mostafa Salehizadeh sealed the victory for Bimeh Razi Isfahan in the 72-kilogram, 77-kilogram, 82-kilogram, 87-kilogram and 97-kilogram weight classes.
Mahdi Nouri, Sina Sanat Izeh’s contestant in the 125-kilogram weight category, then decided not show up for the bout against Shahab Qoureh Jili as his attempts would not have changed the final result.
Meanwhile, Turkish side Buyuksehir edged past Georgian Club of Georgia 6-4 in the third-place contests, and claimed the bronze medal.
The fourth edition of Greco-Roman World Wrestling Clubs Cup kicked off on December 14, and concluded the next day.
