Iranian female junior archer Sogand Rahmani has delivered awe-inspiring performances at the Asian qualification tournament for the archery events at the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games, and secured her spot in the high-status international tournament.
On Wednesday, Rahmani overcame a representative from Bhutan 6-2 at her first contest in the Bangladeshi capital city of Dhaka, before defeating Indian opponents in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
She is scheduled to compete against a North Korean rival in the final showdown on Thursday.
The Asian qualification tournament for the archery events at the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games started on November 24, and will conclude on December 1, 2017.
On October 7, young Iranian archer Amir Reza Safaeipour was placed among top 16 athletes at the World Archery Youth Championships, and booked a berth at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
Safaeipour had three victories against rivals from Belgium (6-2), Kazakhstan (6-4) and Romania (6-4) and won the direct ticket to the Bonus Aires event.
The archery events at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics will be held from October 6 to 18.
A total of 64 athletes will participate in the tournament. The archery competitions will take place at Parque Polideportivo Roca in Villa Soldati.
