Veteran Iranian basketball player, coach passes away

Veteran Iranian basketball player and coach Ata Eidmohammadi has lost his battle against disease, and departed this life.

Eidmohammadi died in the northeastern Iranian city of Gonbad-e Kavus, located 504 kilometers (313 miles) northeast of the capital Tehran, on Tuesday.

He held a bachelor degree from Tehran’s Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Science.

Eidmohammadi was a member of the Iran men’s national basketball team between 1975 and 1982.

He led the Iran national under-23 basketball team as well as the national basketball team between 1988 and 1992.

Later on, Eidmohammadi took the helm at Iranian professional basketball club Shahrdari Gorgan Basketball Club, which competes in the Iranian Basketball Super League, and placed the team in the third place in 2000.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Basketball Federation has extended its condolences to Eidmohammadi’s bereaved family in a message.
