Lebanese politicians’ vigilance has foiled a Saudi plot to drag Lebanon into a political stalemate and an internal conflict, says an analyst.

The Saudi authorities wanted to surround Lebanon’s resistance movement or to drag Hezbollah into an internal conflict, but “the Saudis have lost their battle ... to drag Lebanon into chaos again and into such a civil war,” Redwan Rizk told Press TV on Wednesday.

Now all this has failed and the defeat is to be added to the failures on the ground in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon, because Hezbollah and its allies have been able to fight against any kind of threats coming from Takfiri terrorists and other players in the Middle East, the political commentator said.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun has warned Arab states that dealing with his country requires wisdom otherwise they would be pushing the country "towards the fire."
