UN says blockade deteriorating Yemen situation
The United Nations has refreshed its warnings that the humanitarian situation is deteriorating as a result of the Saudi-led war on the country. It says the Saudi blockade on Yemen has specifically put the lives of millions at risk. The UN has called on Riyadh to open the country’s seaports urgently so that aid convoys could reach the affected population. The UN says Yemen is now dealing with the worst cholera outbreak in recent history with around one million people now affected by the deadly disease. It says the situation could deteriorate further specifically if the Saudi-led blockade on the country remains. These appear not to have been enough to move the officials in Riyadh. The latest signs show the kingdom is even further tightening the blockade the world wants to be lifted.
Saudis told Abbas to back Trump’s plan or resign
The bombshell report was carried on Israel’s channel ten. It said the Palestinian president was summoned to sit down for talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman and there he was told to accept the planned proposal. However, Abbas' Fatah party, has denied the report as untrue. Any such push by Saudi Arabia is not a distant possibility at all. Saudis have been warming up to Israel, and the United States has been facilitating a thaw in relations between Riyadh and Tel Aviv. Observers say in its bid to appease the US and its close ally Israel, the Saudi-led bloc may be ready to push compromises that threaten the rights of Palestinians and undermine their efforts to totally end the Israeli occupation.
