Fire fighters in India's financial capital Mumbai on Thursday said that the blaze which broke out during a demolition drive in a slum near a busy railway station was brought under control.
According to eye-witnesses, the fire started due to a short circuit in the shanties in Bandra East area and got out of control as few cooking gas cylinders exploded.
It quickly spread to an overhead pedestrian bridge at one of the city's busiest railway stations, Bandra suburban railway station. Sixteen fire engines and twelve water tankers were brought in to contain the blaze.
