Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the operation against militants of the Daesh terrorists "will be accomplished in the foreseeable future," during talks with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura in Moscow, Thursday.
Lavrov added that counterterrorism efforts in Syria are "approaching a turning point in terms of final success."
In his turn, De Mistura argued that there is a shift "from the period of de-escalation into almost, and we hope forever, defeating terrorism," adding that "now is the moment of a political process to pick it up."
