Stephen Lendman: US, allies use terrorists to keep Syria war alive

The United States and its allies use terrorist groups as “imperial foot soldiers” to pave the way for continuing the war in Syria, says an author.

“America, NATO, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jordan, Qatar ... recruit these terrorists [like] ISIS (Daesh), al-Nusra and other[s]” in order to push forward their agenda in Syria, Stephen Lendman told Press TV on Tuesday.

The United States will not give up easily, because its objective is to “seize as much Syrian territory as it can especially in the oil-rich areas,” the author and journalist said.

America’s so-called bombing campaign is not to get rid of Daesh, but it is to kill civilians and destroy Syrian infrastructure, Lendman said.

On Monday, Syria’s ambassador to the United Nations blamed the plight of his countrymen, suffering under almost seven years of militancy, on an influential part of the international community that is reluctant to truly battle terrorism.
