The Iranian men’s national 7-a-side football team has managed to book a place in the final showdown of the 2017 IFCPF CP Football World Championships, after it achieved a deserved win over the British team.
On Wednesday, the Iranian side notched up a 3-1 victory at Stadium Juan Gilberto Funes in La Punta municipality, central Argentina, and found a way in the title game.
In another match of the day, Ukraine defeated Russia in the penalty shootout, and booked the final berth
The Iranian men’s national 7-a-side football will play the final against Ukraine on Saturday.
Russia will take on Britain in the third-place playoff.
The 2017 IFCPF CP Football World Championships, which is the world championship for men's national 7-a-side association football teams, kicked off in Argentina on September 4 and will finish on September 24.
The 7-a-side football is a form of association football for athletes with cerebral palsy and other neurological disorders, namely stroke and traumatic brain injury. Matches consist of two 30-minute halves, with a 15-minute interval, and are played with modified FIFA rules.
