Iranians’ run in the Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) Juniors Boxing Championships 2017 has hit a major snag as three participants tumbled out of the competition in the first round.
On Wednesday, Iranian pinweight boxer Mostafa Rigi lost to a representative from Kazakhstan in the preliminary round of the event in Puerto Princesa coastal city, western Philippines, and was eliminated.
In the featherweight 57-kilogram category, Farhad Moradi failed to get past Uzbekistan’s Javlonbek Yuldashev.
Iran’s Ehsan Adai also went down to his South Korean opponent Lee Chae Hyun in the light welterweight 63-kilogram class.
The ASBC Juniors Boxing Championships 2017 started in Puerto Princesa, the Philippines, on August 2 and will conclude on August 7.
The Iranian delegation has seven participants: Mostafa Rigi in the pinweight (46-kilogram), Hossein Hajagha Barari in the bantamweight (54-kilogram), Farhad Moradi in the featherweight (57-kilogram), Arash Amintorabi in the lightweight (60-kilogram), Ehsan Adai in the light welterweight (63-kilogram), Armin Azari in the light heavyweight (80-kilogram) and Ali Sepehr in the heavyweight (+80-kilogram) categories.
