The al-Aqsa Mosque Compound in the old city of Jerusalem al-Quds remains closed for the second day following clashes that left 5 Israeli and Palestinians dead on Friday. In an unprecedented event, the first since 19-69, the Israeli authorities also prevented Muslim worshipers from holding Friday prayers in the mosque. Palestinians have warned that the closure of the al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the third most important site in the Islamic world, could be a sign of Tel Aviv’s intention to take over the entire holy compound.
