Catalonia's Leader Carles Puigdemont has drawn tough criticism after he dismissed three regional councilors in an attempt to stifle dissent ahead of a controversial referendum on the region’s independence in October. Spanish Premier Mariano Rajoy said the reshuffle was no less than a purge and one more sign of the authoritarian drift of the Catalonia’s leader.
