US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka has apparently replaced her father at a round table meeting with world leaders at the G20 summit in the German city of Hamburg.
Ivanka was photographed sitting in Trump’s seat next to British Prime Minister Theresa May, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other world leaders, The Independent reported on Saturday.
She was reportedly accompanied by his father, but later filled in for the president at the meeting on “Partnership with Africa, Migration and Health,” which took place on Saturday morning.
A Russian G20 official, who shared the picture on social media, said the president had left his daughter in his place while he attended bilateral meetings with other world leaders.
This was not the first time Ivanka was present at a meeting with a world leader. Back in March, she was pictured sitting next to Merkel in a round table about worker productivity in Berlin.
The White House said Merkel had to reach out to Ivanka about setting up the event. Her presence at the meeting raised eyebrows, given she had no official title within the Trump administration.
Ivanka, however, continued her influence on her father and became an “unpaid” adviser to her father later in March. Her husband, Jared Kushner, was also appointed as a senior White House adviser by the president. They have been accused of being benefited from nepotism both at home and abroad.
