Almost half of Britons believe Theresa May should quit as Prime Minister, according to polls conducted since the general election.

A YouGov poll suggested 48% thought she should stand down, with 38% saying she should stay, while Survation had 49% of people saying she should quit, with 38% saying she should remain in the post.

Jeremy Corbyn has said that he had “changed the face of British politics” as his party defied the polls and made a significant election breakthrough, Steven Swinford, Christopher Hope and Edward Malnick report.

Mr. Corbyn's party ousted a series of Tories with previously safe constituencies across the country, from North Yorkshire to Portsmouth. The Conservative casualties included several ministers.
