Recent remarks made by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson were a clear violation of international law, says an academic.

"The United States is not authorized essentially to undermine the legitimate governments of other countries," Hamed Mousavi told Press TV on Tuesday.

It is “very hypocritical” for the United States as a destabilizing player in the Middle East to come and accuse countries such as Iran for the destabilization of the region, he said.

Hamed Mousavi is a PhD candidate in the political science program at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.
