Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers have featured praiseworthy performances at the Junior Asian Wrestling Championships in Taiwan, and scooped five medal at the continental tournament.
Iran’s Mohammad Javad Rezaei overcame representatives from Uzbekistan and South Korea in his first two contests of the 55-kilogram weight class in the center-western Taiwanese city of Taichung on Thursday.
He defeated an opponent from China 9-0 in the semi-final round, and advanced to the final round.
Rezaei bested Kyrgyz wrestler Zholaman Sharshenbekov 4-4 and won the gold.
Keremat Abdevali picked up a silver medal for the Iranian team in the 60-kilogram division, and Amin Kaviyaninejad took the 66-kilogram gold medal via technical fall, 12-0.
Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Mehdi Bali also received the gold medal in the 84-kilogram weight category.
Moreover, Amir Mohammad Norouzi got the silver medal in the 96-kilogram section.
The Junior Asian Wrestling Championships kicked off in Taichung, Taiwan, on June 15, and will wrap up on June 18, 2017.
