Paolo Raffone, the secretary general of the CIPI Foundation, believes Saudi Arabia and its regional allies have singled out Qatar in an attempt to pressure Doha into making policy changes that would be compatible with Riyadh’s wishes.
“Of course this situation is putting an enormous pressure on Qatar because it importing most its food from elsewhere … Of course it is creating a situation where possibly there should be a change of policy in Qatar to normalize again their relations with the other monarchies in the [Persian] Gulf,” Raffone told Press TV in an interview on Monday.
“So this is really quite an internal fight between the different power structures of the Sunni governments in the [Persian] Gulf,” he added.
