Iranian freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers have exhibited satisfactory displays at the Tbilisi Grand Prix of V. Balavadze & G. Kartozia in Georgia, and scooped three medals, including one gold, in the international tournament.
On Saturday and the opening day of the competitions at Tbilisi Sports Palace in the Georgian capital, Iranian freestyle wrestler Mojtaba Gelij emerged triumphant in his first bouts against Georgian and Turkish rivals at the 97-kilogram weight class, and marched into the final bout.
The Iranian sportsman then overcame another representative from Turkey in the final contest, and was awarded the top honor.
Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Mosayyeb Akbari also snatched the bronze medal in the 59-kilogram weight division.
Additionally, Greco-Roman wrestler Amir Hossein Hosseini defeated his rival in the third-place contest of the 98-kilogram weight class, and picked up the bronze medal.
The Tbilisi Grand Prix of V. Balavadze & G. Kartozia opened in Georgia on June 10, and will conclude the next day.
