Iranian presidential candidate Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has withdrawn from the race and joined forces with fellow candidate Ebrahim Raeisi with the aim of winning Friday’s presidential election. This comes just a few days before the vote.

Incumbent President Hassan Rouhani has defended his performance and accused some of his rivals of trying to move the country backward. He was speaking at a campaign rally in the city of Tabriz where he was cheered by thousands of his supporters.

Iranian Presidential hopeful Mostafa Hashemitaba has leveled harsh criticism against principlist candidates for making deceptive promises.
