Thousands of people have hit the streets of the US capital to participate in the Climate March in the wake of US President Donald Trump’s policies against the environment.

Held on Saturday, the march coincided with the president’s 100th day in office.

The event was held one day after Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) removed several pages related to climate change from its website.

“Donald Trump can try to stick his head in the sand when it comes to protecting our clean air and water all he wants, but that will never drown out the millions of voices across the country demanding action," said Michael Brune, the executive director of the environmental organization Sierra Club, an organizer of the event, in a statement.
