The Iran men's national basketball team has gone down to its first defeat at the 17th edition of West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) Men Championship in Jordan, losing to the Lebanese side.
The Iranian sportsmen fell to their Lebanese opponents 62-65 at the end of a match staged in the Jordanian capital city of Amman on Tuesday afternoon.
Small forward Fadi El Khatib scored 21 points for Lebanon men’s national basketball team, while Mohammad Jamshidi charted 13 points for Iran.
The Iranian squad had managed to ease past Syria 92-48 in its second match at the tournament the previous day.
The Iran men's national basketball team is scheduled to take on Iraq in its fourth fixture at 4:30 p.m. local time (1330 GMT) on Wednesday.
The 17th edition of West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) Men Championship started in Amman, Jordan, on January 29 and will run through February 2, 2017.
The tournament has brought together teams from Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria.
