US President Donald Trump’s plan to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds has drawn a lot of criticism. The controversial decision has also evoked bitter opposition from the Palestinians who regard Jerusalem al-Quds as the future capital of an independent Palestinian state.
A political commentator from Brisbane believes relocating the US embassy is “really a disgraceful” move, adding that it will give Israel “open slather” to basically claim all of Palestine.
“It will destroy the peace process, it will escalate the conflict and there will be mass exodus from the area. The Palestinians will be moved to Jordan or somewhere else. The Israelis want them gone and this will just give them the excuse they need to continue their ethnic cleansing programs,” Max Igan told Press TV in an interview on Monday.
He also noted transferring the American embassy will “escalate the war on terror”, and it will “inflame the Muslim world”.
The commentator further said there is no justification for such an action, arguing that it is probably the worst move any world leader could possibly make.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Igan opined that if Trump really wants to destroy Daesh, he should look at what the root cause of this Takfiri terrorist group is.
“ISIS (Daesh) is a mercenary force that is funded by the West. If you want to wipe out ISIS from the face of the earth, you do not strengthen Israel. What you do is to look at where ISIS is getting its funding which is mainly from the Clinton Foundation, from people like [Senator] John McCain, forces that have been trained in Saudi Arabia, you have got Israeli commanders in there,” he stated.
The commentator concluded by saying that Trump is making a “very dangerous move”, asserting that if the US embassy is transferred to Jerusalem al-Quds, there will be a huge escalation in tensions and in the ethnic cleansing program that Israel is waging against Palestinians.
