Bahraini authorities have restored the right to arrest human rights campaigners and political dissidents to intelligence agents as the ruling Al Khalifah family is pressing ahead with its heavy crackdown on public demands for reforms, democracy and an elected government. Activists have condemned the move as the Al Khalifah regime’s disregard for human rights, warning that restoration of arrest powers to the spy service will subject ordinary citizens to regular abuse.

A political commentator believes the Al Khalifah regime is trying to prevent any sort of "outcry" in the country by empowering intelligence agents to arrest dissidents.

“You have got countless people in jail on trumped-up charges. This approach, this idea of giving the so-called security services of Bahrain, the national security agency, the power to go around and arrest anyone under the pretense of this person is engaged in terrorism is ludicrous [and] crazy,”  Shabbir Hassanally told Press TV in an interview on Friday.

He also predicted that this move will end badly for the ruling Al Khalifah family, because people will make serious resistance and overthrow the "corrupt" regime in Bahrain.

"it is a complete waste of time to try and reform these corrupt monarchies” due to the fact that they are not really interested in the welfare of the people, the analyst added.

Hassanally went on to say that the Bahraini regime is only interested in the welfare of itself and its clients, namely the United States and Britain. He also criticized "the civilized world” for tolerating Bahrain’s horrendous behavior.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the analyst noted that the root of Wahhabism comes from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, which ar nurturing and supporting the Daesh Takfiri terrorists.

According to the analyst, these entities will soon be relegated to the books of history along with their Zionist partners the same way that Daesh is getting destroyed by the resistance of the free people of the world.
