US-based Turkish opposition figure Fethullah Gulen, who is accused of orchestrating a failed coup in July, has condemned the assassination of Moscow's envoy to Ankara, rejecting allegations that his followers were involved in the killing. This came after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the Gulen movement of being involved in the assassination.

E. Michael Jones, the editor of Culture Wars magazine, believes the assassination of the Russian envoy is an indication that the Daesh Takfiri terrorists are losing, and that it is an expression of their "unhappiness at Ankara’s betrayal of ISIS (Daesh) forces."

“Turkey is now siding with the Russians. The Turks, the Russians and the Iranians have now concluded an agreement that pretty much is going to be the end of ISIS in Syria, and I think this is what has motivated the murderer of the Russian ambassador,” the analyst told Press TV in an interview on Friday.

He also said that Gulen had nothing to do with the murder of the Russian ambassador, asserting that his denial makes perfect sense.

“I think that Erdogan is going to have to make up his mind here. Either Gulen supported the coup, which I think does make sense, which was an attempt to overthrow Erdogan and put a government more favorable to the United States or he is in favor of this assassination. I think they are mutually exclusive. You cannot have it both ways,” he said.

Jones further noted that Gulen will not be extradited as long as he is "useful" to the United States, arguing that Washington will keep him in reserve so that it can put pressure on the Erdogan government which "is siding with the Russians."
