Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has congratulated the Arab nation on the liberation of Aleppo from the clutches of foreign-backed militants amid an ongoing mission to evacuate the remaining armed men and civilians from the embattled northwestern city.

Mike Harris, an editor at Veterans Today, believes the liberation of Aleppo has been an “unmitigated disaster” for Western powers, adding that the surrender of more than 4,000 terrorists in Syria is an “intelligence bonanza”.

“The Syrian government is going to be able to interrogate these people individually and find out what they know... There has been some speculation [about] how ISIS (Daesh) took possession of US-made TOW missiles… Someone somewhere in the US State Department signed off on the transfer of those missiles to whomever supplied them to the terrorists. All of this information is going to come to light,” the analyst told Press TV in an interview on Friday.

He also said it is time to accurately designate countries such as the United States, Britain, France, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Turkey as “state sponsors of terrorism” for what they have been doing in Syria.

The analyst went on to say that the West and its regional allies have also committed “acts of piracy”, pointing out that the oil smuggled out of Syria does not move to the refinery by itself.

Harris also stated that the banks clearing the transactions of the smuggled oil and the refineries buying it are supporting terrorism and are subject to “criminal and civil litigation”.

He further argued that the West should stop meddling in the affairs of other sovereign nations, noting that those responsible for acts of aggression need to be brought to justice and charged criminally.

The analyst also asserted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has successfully withstood the war on Syria and will remain the country's legitimate president.
