The Taj Balloon Festival in India.

Colorful hot air balloons from around the world are flying over India’s Taj Mahal during a festival.

16 hot air balloons from 12 countries took off as the annual Taj balloon festival kicked off in Agra, home to the Taj Mahal.

The lineup included some special-shaped balloons including characters like “Smurf”, “Bob the Lobster” and “Happy Egg”.

The 6-day event has gathered hundreds of spectators on their rooftops to wave at the balloons that travelled from one end of the city to another.

The balloons take off every morning at sunrise and again at night when they lure the spectators back with their special night glow feature.
