US planned Kiev coup to foment regime change in Russia: Commentator

The Ukrainian security service, SBU has accused Russia of making attempts to destabilize the country’s political situation, saying that leaked Kremlin e-mails confirm this issue.

An author and commentator says the United States is the one who has organized the coup in Ukraine in an attempt to eventually foment regime change in Russia.

“So on the one hand you have these accusations but we know that the US has been interfering and helping this coup regardless of the fact that far-right neo-Nazi parties were going to be in the government and so forth,” John Steppling told Press TV.

“So these kinds of accusations have to be looked at with pretty jaundiced eye because this is cynical US foreign policy at work and really nothing more,” he added.

The commentator also stated the entire Ukrainian conflict has been the result of United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) actions, adding that US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland has “micromanaged” the coup in Kiev.

He went on to say that the US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was constantly accusing Russia of interfering in foreign elections and maybe hacking the DNC (the Democratic National Committee) during her campaign while Victoria Nuland was openly interfering in the Ukrainian government’s affairs and orchestrating a coups d'état.

Steppling further argued that Russia has been “remarkably restraint” given the fact that the United States and NATO are surrounding it.

The US has imposed an array of sanctions against Russia since 2014, when clashes between the US-backed government in Kiev and pro-Russia forces erupted in eastern Ukraine. The US and EU have accused Russia of playing a role in Ukraine’s conflict. Moscow, however, denies the allegations.
