Many people in Zimbabwe just cannot afford to go to the hospital and consult physicians or to buy medicine. This has forced some to turn to cheaper alternatives such as traditional medicine.
Shepherd Mushore is among the growing number of people selling herbs and other so-called medicines on streets of the capital, Harare.
Shepherd sells a variety of tree bark, roots and leaves of all types that can cure different diseases. All medicines here are sold for a dollar, except for the ones that treat cancer. Interestingly, many people have been healed by these herbs.
Many of those selling herbs on the streets of Harare are mostly unregistered herbalists. But economic problems are pushing people toward buying street medicines.
