Iran men’s national beach soccer team has been drawn in the Group B of the forthcoming Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2016 in the United Arab Emirates.
During the draw ceremony at Dubai Sports Council Headquarters on Tuesday, the Iranian outfit joined squads from Russia, the United States and Egypt in the group stage of the event.
Brazil, Poland, Tahiti and the UAE formed Group B in the upcoming tournament.
Tournament director Alex Soriano, Dubai Sports Council General Secretary Saeed Hareb and FIFA Beach Soccer Worldwide Executive Vice President Joan Cusco attended the ceremony.
Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup Dubai 2016, which will be the sixth edition of the tournament, will be held at the Dubai International Marine Club between November 1 and 5.
The tournament will be played as a round-robin in group stage, after which the top two teams will qualify for the semi-final round.
The semi-finals will be played between the winner of Group A against the Group B runner-up and vice versa.
Last year, Iran beat Egypt 3-2 in the penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the regulation time, and claimed the third spot.
The Persians defeated Russia 4-3 in the title showdown of the 2013 edition of the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup and emerged champion.
