World must boycott US for anti-black racism: Pundit

Press TV has conducted an interview with Randy Short, a US civil rights activist from Washington, about the UN’s call on the United States to protect African Americans.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview. 

Press TV: How do you feel about this comparison reminiscent of racial lynching of the 19th and 20th centuries?

Short: Well, it isn't reminiscent. That’s the same thing. I want to congratulate my sister Mireille Fanon-Mendès-France, the daughter of France Fanon, for the work that they're doing. I met her in January. It's the same thing. In fact, the United States never ever passed a law against the murder of black people. Their civil rights are things that can be applied, but essentially there was never the political will in this country to make it unlawful for whites to kill black people. I mean the civil rights sort of covers it but in reality this is a particular type of crime. There should have been a specific law dealing with it. There isn't the will to protect their lives in this country.

Press TV: It's disturbing, isn’t it, Doctor Short, that in 2016 when we speak about the world's superpower which makes all these moral stances around the world that it has such important issues which it has not yet dealt with for its own society such as of course the treatment of African-Americans?

Short: Oh, I think they're dealing with it as they've always done. It became a superpower off the backs of the genocide of those people you call Indians which many of them had African origins and people who were brought over in chains. That is the origin of what made America superpower. So, it would be like expecting Nazi Germany to abandon any Semitism if that is one of the core ideological beliefs of certain people being inferior and something superior. The same sorts of thoughts dominate the Anglo system and that's not just here; it's everywhere in Australia, New Zealand, Canada but it is most acute here because of the great wealth and power that's come through the extraction of life and stealing the liberty of certain people. This is consistent not inconsistent.

And the shootings of what you see, the poisoned water with the lead, the mass abortion, the mass incarceration, the so-called gentrification which is essentially a black removal across the country, this is what you don't see. There is an incremental destruction of our people in process here. And I don't care who doesn't like it; it is what's happening and that's why the folks are out in the streets. Some people begin to say, 'Where do we go', What happens'. Things have changed for a sliver of the black population who is doing great, the ones you see on television but for a lot of black folks it's quite terrible.

Press TV: Do you think that such international pressure if it's coming from the United Nations for example, if the US is being called out so publicly on the African-American issue will that help resolve it?

Short: It will help to some degree. What ultimately needs to happen is that folks need to boycott America. We need a boycott, disinvestment and sanction protocol for America. Uncle Sam, stop killing black people, stop fighting the whole world. Learn how to get along, truly be a great power instead of a great global bully.
