A new opinion poll shows that US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has absolutely no popularity among African-American people in the run-up to the 2016 US presidential race.
According to the poll conducted by Public Policy Polling and released on Tuesday, the New York businessman’s favorability rating among black voters stands at zero percent, while in a separate poll earlier this month US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton enjoyed an indisputably colossal lead with 91 percent of black support.
Much to Trump’s chagrin, the voters even preferred things such as bedbugs, junk mail, carnies, bubonic plague and middle airplane seats to the real estate mogul.
The Tuesday poll was carried out from August 26 to 28 and had a 3-percentage-point margin of error.
In the most recent national poll, the former secretary of state is popular among 85 percent of self-identified Democratic voters, while Trump has the support of 78 percent of Republicans, while 37 percent of independent voters support the former first lady and 32 percent back her rival.
Both Trump and Clinton are currently among the worst-rated presidential candidates of the last 70 years.
Clinton has led Trump throughout most of the 2016 presidential campaign but her lead in recent polls represents a decline in her support.
Clinton’s declining support has, in large part, been attributed to a series of fierce attacks from the Trump campaign over the past few days.
Clinton is accused by Trump of doing political favors for some of the people who donated money to her family’s foundation when she was in office from 2009 to 2013.
Her use of a private server to exchange classified emails also made the headlines again last week, after a judge ordered her to provide written testimony under oath about why she used the server.
