The United States is attempting to change facts on the ground in Syria in order to force the future president to go along with it if that happens to be Donald Trump, according to American political analyst E. Michael Jones.
Jones, the editor of Culture Wars magazine, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Saturday while commenting on Washington’s increased military activity in Syria.
On Thursday, US fighter jets tried to engage Syrian Air Force aircraft in the northeastern city of Hasakah, but the showdown was avoided as government planes left before the Americans arrived, according to the Pentagon.
Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis claimed on Friday the US fighters attempted to intercept the Syrian planes to protect American advisers – the term US military often uses for its Special Operations Forces – working with Kurdish forces after the Syrian government jets bombed the area.
He told reporters the US had warned Syria via its communication channel with Russia that it would defend coalition troops, adding the Syrian airstrikes "did not directly impact our forces" but they were "close enough that it gives us great pause."
“We’re in the middle of an election campaign right now in the United States,” said Jones. “And Donald Trump has said that he will try to reach an agreement with Russia, which means there’s going to be an attempt to pull back in this military confrontation basically with the rest of the world.”
“The question in Syria is little more complicated… and it is hard to see how they could make a decision before the election unless they are trying to establish something to force the next president to go along with the facts on the ground,” he stated.
“If Hillary Clinton is elected, the war in the Middle East will expand. Hillary Clinton has said that she is going to prosecute the war in Syria because this will be helpful for Israel,” he pointed out.
“All of Hillary Clinton’s major backers are wealthy Jews -- Haim Saban, George Soros, they all are backing Hillary Clinton. So it looks to me that this may be an attempt to establish facts on the ground so that the future president has to go along with it if that happens to be Donald Trump,” the analyst concluded.
