Press TV has conducted an interview with Anthony James Hall, a professor at University of Lethbridge, Canada, about Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud giving a one-month cash bonus to the kingdom’s armed forces who are involved in operations against Yemen.

Here is a rough transcription of the interview:

Press TV: What are your thoughts when you heard about this?

Hall: Well this dramatizes the tragic assault on the human rights of Yemenis, the indigenous peoples of Yemen, the assault on schoolchildren as the Saudi Arabian government pays bonuses for this assault really underlies the cynical nature, of course this assault on Yemen is taking place largely under the radar screen of the Western media, there is attention on what is going on in Syria, in Iraq, now Turkey but somehow Yemen seems to be outside of the concern of those who should be concerned about the tremendous human rights abuses taking place, the destruction of infrastructure, the assault on civilians, children, elderly people, it is very, very important to underline that the world has to mobilize to stop this aggressive warfare, this war crime.

Press TV: In a sense, is this a sign that possibly Saudis and even these armed forces involved in the invasion of Yemen aren’t happy about what is happening?

Hall: Well in other words the idea that they need to offer a motivation, a stimulus because the people themselves do not want to take part in this assault and of course it is in the region, these are people, very closely connected people. This Saudi force, the backing up of Saudi, the using of Saudi to kind of experiment and apply their new latest technology, these big corporations largely American, Israeli, European corporations that want to test their weaponry and develop new generations of weaponry, it seems that the Yemeni people are being used as kind of  guinea pigs in this experimentation, this process of developing more and more lethal killing weapons, weapons of mass destruction and maybe some of the Saudi people and the Saudi military are in fact feeling the pains of being used and abused in this way themselves.

Press TV: And so for how much longer do you think that the Saudis can use their money to almost buy people because austerity measures have already been announced within the kingdom?

Hall: Yes, well Saudi Arabia is a kind of seems to be at the end of ..., there is an evolution that something needs to change drastically. This development of Saudi Arabia is a kind of proxy army, it is a kind of staging point for the CIA and Mossad for its operations and plying the whole cynical operation, the whole corrupt operation with vast quantities of money, corrupting money. This approach to global geopolitics, this aspect of global geopolitics, it is obscene and it has to change.
