The election process in the United States has been incredibly rigged for over a century when the banking system got very closely involved with the politicians, a political analyst says.
People like Jack Abramoff, a former American businessman and lobbyist, who had massive access to political as well as financial entities, have really hijacked the American political system, Scott Rickard, former American intelligence linguist told Press TV’s Debate program on Friday.
“The American republic or democracy whatever you want to call it is really a plutocracy. It is absolutely a plutocracy that is supported and bolstered by the rich, it is for the rich, it absolutely does not work in the spirit of the United States,” he added.
This as the US Green Party has warned of “election fraud” in the country, which it says includes unfair ballot access laws to prevent independent candidates from taking part in the election process.
Third-party candidates campaigning for the 2016 US presidential election are gaining more support among voters as Republican and Democratic nominees continue to struggle with their unparalleled unpopularity, polls show.
Recent polling averages by RealClearPolitics hint at a steady yet significant rise in support for Libertarian Party’s presidential nominee Gary Johnson, going from 4.5 percent to 7.2 percent over the past six weeks.
Green Party candidate Jill Stein has also enjoyed a surge in support. She is now supported by 3.5 percent of the voters, up from 2.5 percent in June.
Also in the Debate program, Maxine Dovere, a journalist and political commentator, disagreed the accusation that the election process in the US is rigged, arguing that the Justice Department is doing its job to root out the opportunity of rigging the election process.
The United States presidential election of 2016, constitutionally prescribed to occur on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, will be the 58th quadrennial US presidential election.
