Well! We’re only a few days away from the Biggest Sporting Event in the World and organisers in the hosting city of Rio de Janeiro are busy putting the finishing touches to the Olympic Park ahead of the much-anticipated Games.

Last minute preparations are underway to make the Brazilian city ready for the very first Olympics in the South American country, which will kick-off this Friday.

Workers and engineers are rushing to prepare Olympic venues while fans and athletes continue arriving in Brazil. Organizers are also frantically working to upgrade accommodations for athletes in the Olympic village after receiving complaints about housing there.

Around half-a-million people are expected to visit Rio during the course of the Olympics which has been overshadowed by a number of issues including Brazil’s political and economic crisis, polluted waters, Zika virus, concerns over crimes and delays to infrastructure.

The latest headache for the organizers has been the collapse of the main ramp at the Games’ sailing center after it was hit by high tides and stormy seas on Saturday. The organisers hope the structure will be repaired in time for the Olympic sailing events that begin next Monday.
