The United States’ plan to deploy an advanced missile system in South Korea has increased tensions in the region. Russia and China view the move as an attempt to put their military facilities within the range of US radars. This comes as Seoul is spending billions of dollars on buying weapons from the US and Pyongyang is testing new weapons. This is widely seen as a trigger for a regional arms race.
