Iran’s national junior water polo team

Iran’s national junior water polo team has finished its campaign at the 5th edition of the Asian Water Polo Junior Championship in Indonesia, and claimed the third place after breezing past the Uzbek squad.

The young Iranian athletes exhibited commendable agility and vivacity throughout their last and one-sided fixture in the capital city of Jakarta on Monday, and trounced Uzbekistan’s national junior water polo outfit 15-9.

It came a day after Iran’s national junior water polo team slumped to China 10-12 in its third showdown.

Japan scored nine points to stand on the top of the podium, and earn the top honor. The East Asians were followed by their Chinese counterparts, who racked up eight points and finished in the second spot.

The Islamic Republic of Iran was placed third with two points, and Kazakhstan stood fourth with four points.

The 5th edition of the Asian Water Polo Junior Championship started in Indonesia on July 21 and concluded on July 27.

The tournament brought together national junior teams from China, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

It served as a qualification tournament for choosing Asian representatives to attend in Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) World Junior Championship (20 years & under) in 2017.
